Outside Scholarships

ATHENA (Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce)
Scholarships are available for women returning to school to complete their education. Applicants must be at least 30 years of age, have a record of academic performance, completed at least one term or semester with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, balanced with volunteer experiences and outside interests. Applicants must have a financial need and have filed a FAFSA (available at www.FAFSA.gov). Applications are available at the Financial Aid Office or on line at http://www.grandrapids.org/athena-scholarship. Deadline is April 18, 2014.
 
GRASSHOPPER ENTREPRENEUR SCHOLARSHIP

One (1) $5,000 scholarship will be award to a student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Spring, Summer, or Fall 2014 semester. 2014 SENIOR CARE INNOVATION SCHOLARSHIP
A Place for Mom is offering five (5) $1000 scholarships to students enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's, or graduate level program at an accredited school in the fields of gerontology, medicine, nursing, social work, sociology, psychology, or long-term care administration. LAPEER COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
The Irma Gelhausen Scholarship is available to students pursuing a degree in elementary or secondary education, are at least a junior for the 2014-15 school year, a resident of Lapeer County, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. ATHNET SPORTS RECRUITING SCHOLARSHIP

$1,000 scholarship is available to former high school athletes who are enrolled as a full-time student at a two or four year college. You do not need to be an athlete at the college level. MASSMUTUAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Thirty (30) $5,000 Scholarships are available. Eligible students of all majors will be considered who are entering their sophomore, junior, senior, or 5th -year senior year of undergraduate study at an accredited U.S. college or university and are interested in pursuing a career in the insurance and financial services industry. AQUINAS COMMON APPLICATION
Twenty (20) scholarships are available for Aquinas College students. Each has its own requirements. Click here to download an application. Applications are also available in the Financial Aid Office. Deadline is May 9, 2014.
 
ATHENA (Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce)
Over the past 10 years we have awarded almost $30,000 in scholarship! Scholarships are available for women who have completed at least one year of post secondary education or the equivalent by May 31, 2014, are at least 30 years of age, enrolled for the Fall semester of 2014, demonstrate a commitment to educational attainment and a professional career, live or work in Ottawa, Allegan or Muskegon counties, and have limited financial resources. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office. Deadline is May 16, 2014.
 
ASCO NUMATICS SCHOLARSHIP
Two $5000 scholarships are available to students enrolled in an engineering, instrumentation, systems, electrical, mechanical, or automation discipline at an accredited U.S. educational institution. Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year in a four-year undergraduate degree program or enrolled in a graduate program. Applicants must have a minimum 3.2 GPA and be a U.S. citizen or legal U.S. resident, and be enrolled full-time for the 2014-15 school year. ASSOCIATION ON AMERICAN INDIAN AFFAIRS (AAIA)
Various scholarships are available to Native American and Alaska Native students from federally recognized tribes and tribes that are not recognized by the federal government. NORBERT J HRUBY
Scholarships are available for first time students in the Continuing Education or Graduate programs (or students in these programs who have not attended Aquinas in the past 2 years). Scholarships are awarded based on leadership and/or community service and are renewable for 7 consecutive years or until graduation, whichever comes first. MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS SCHOLARSHIP TRUST (MARST)
Scholarships are available for full time students who will be entering junior, senior, or post-graduate work with a major related to the real estate field such as business, marketing, finance or law. Applicants must have a 2.0 minimum GPA. Awards range from $500 to $2000 and are distributed over two semesters. THE CONSOLE & HOLLAWELL $1,000 LEGAL LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP 2014
A $1,000 scholarship is available to students who are pursuing a career in law. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in the following areas: pre-law, paralegal studies, or working towards their juris doctorate in any concentration of the law. High school seniors, college students, and law students are welcome to apply. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, a full-time student attending (or planning to attend on a full-time basis) an accredited institution of higher education, with a minimum 3.0 GPA. THERMO SCIENTIFIC PIERCE SCHOLARSHIP
Two $10,000 and four $5,000 scholarships are to be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or a related life-science field. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, enrolled in an accredited college for the Fall 2014 semester and be a legal U.S. resident. THE INTERNATIONAL GEM SOCIETY (IGS) SCHOLARSHIP
A $750 scholarship will be awarded for the best submitted essay answer to the question..."Why are colored gemstones better than diamonds for an engagement ring or other high end jewelry?" Any student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at any time during calendar year 2014 at any accredited American college, university or trade school may apply. Scholarships are available to undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in college. A $500 scholarship is available to a student studying a Science Degree Program. The $500 scholarship will be used towards the student's academic costs for the 2015 school year. MICHIGAN AUTO LAW CAR ACCIDENT INJURY SCHOLARSHIP

Michigan Auto Law offers two $500 scholarships to college students who have overcome injuries from an auto accident to pursue an education. Applicants must be currently attending a U.S. college or university and are a U.S. citizen. THE GALLERY COLLECTION SCHOLARSHIP
One $10,000 scholarship is available to all high school, college and university students enrolled at any time during the latter half of 2014 in an academic program designed to conclude with the awarding of a diploma, or a degree. Applicants must submit a unique photo, piece of artwork, or computer graphic for the front of a greeting card. The student with the best design will win a $10,000 scholarship and have their design made into an actual card to be sold in our line.
