Outside Scholarships

AIR & WASTE MANAGEMENT (East Chapter)

Four $1,500 scholarships are available to full time students who are in or entering Junior or Senior years or a graduate program, are planning a career in air and/or waste management or another environmental area, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office or online at .http://www.emawma.org/. Deadline is February 29, 2012.

BUICK ACHIEVERS

100 Scholarships up to $25,000/year and 1,000 scholarships of $2,000 are available to full time students who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry. Applications are available online at www.buickachievers.com. Deadline is February 29, 2012.

KENT COUNTY CREDIT UNION – Deadline extended!!

Two $1,000 scholarships are available for KCCU members. Applicants must have a 2.50 minimum GPA and write a 400-600 word essay. Applications are available at the Financial Aid office and online at http://mykccu.com/community.php. Deadline is March 2, 2012.

ALPHA SIGMA LAMBDA

Nine $1,700 scholarships are available to students with a minimum of 30 credits from Aquinas, who is 24 years of age or older, has a 3.2 GPA or higher, is enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program and has financial need. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office. Deadline is March 9, 2012.

NAZARETH

Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to junior and senior level students at a Catholic college with at least 9 credits, as well as one $1,000 scholarship to a nursing student. Applicants must have a 3.0 minimum GPA and have completed all federal, state and institutional financial aid procedures. POLISH HERITAGE SOCIETY

A $300 scholarship is available for a full-time student of Polish descent. Applicants must have a min 2.75 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office. Deadline is March 15, 2012.

GRAND RAPIDS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Many scholarships are available based on financial need, academic standing, a statement of aspirations and goals, and community involvement. More information is available online at www. grfoundation.org. Applications must be submitted online at http://grcf.egrant.org by 5PM April 1, 2012. A portion of the application must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by April 15, 2012.

MICHIGAN RETAILERS ASSOCIATION

Approximately thirty $1000 scholarships are available for students who are employed or have parents who are employed at a business that is a member of the MRA (call 1-800-366-3699 to find out if a particular business is a member). Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applications are available online at www.retailers.com. Applications must be requested by March 15 and submitted by April 2, 2012.

EDUCATIONAL PORTAL

Multiple scholarships ranging from $500 - $1000, in a wide range of academic fields, are available from Education Portal. Applications are available online at http://education-portal.com/pages/Academic%20Awards%20Home.html. Deadline is April 1, 2012.

NORBERT J HRUBY

Scholarships are available for first time students in the Continuing Education or Graduate programs (or students in these programs who have not attended Aquinas in the past 2 years). Scholarships are awarded based on leadership and/or community service and are renewable for 7 consecutive years or until graduation, whichever comes first. MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS

Scholarships are available for full time students who will be entering junior, senior, or postgraduate years with a major related to real estate and a minimum GPA of 2.0 Applications are available online at mirealtors.com/ScholarshipsAndAwards.htm. Deadline is July 1, 2012.
