The Aquinas College Media Center is located on the lower level of the Grace Hauenstein Library. The primary emphasis of the center is to support academic programs.

Media Services
Audio-Visual Equipment
To reserve media equipment, contact the Media Center as far ahead as possible. Equipment will be reserved and set up for use on the date and the time needed. Equipment should be retrieved from, and returned to, the Media Center. Student workers will be available to assist with the elevator. To reserve equipment for use outside the Library, observe either of the following procedures: for campus related activities call (616) 632-2159, for all other groups contact Conferencing services at (616) 632-2801.
 
The Media Center has the following equipment available:
1/2" video players with TV monitors (on portable carts or mounted permanently in various campus classrooms) Audio cassette players/recorders
Boardfax (presentation/copy screen) Data Projector (Proxima)
Direct projector DVD Player
Large screen video projection unit Laser disc player with TV monitor
Laser pointers Overhead projectors Portable screens
Slide projectors Stereo units (compact disc, cassette, LP turntable and AM/FM radio)
Video camcorders and tripods Multimedia stations for viewing CD-ROM software or multimedia production using presentation software.
Laptop computers for in-house use  
 
Production Services
  • Audio Dubbing - With high speed dubbing, reproduce up to three copies at a time. Copyright laws are strictly observed.
  • Dry Mounting - Use a dry mount press to create professional presentations of posters, signs, graphs, etc.
  • Ellison Shape Maker - Especially useful for education students, create die cut letters and shapes for bulletin boards, presentations and posters. Please provide your own paper.
  • Laminating - Laminate materials for preservation and visual enhancement. Laminating hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $0.25 per foot.
  • Lettering Machines - Create type on tape for labels, posters, charts and signs. A variety of styles and sizes are available.
  • Multimedia Presentations - Create multimedia presentations using Powerpoint, or upload an existing presentation from a disk. To use this service, contact the center well in advance of your presentation to allow time for consultation, creation and troubleshooting.
  • Overhead Transparencies - Supplies and equipment available to produce black-on-clear or color transparencies.
  • Video Dubbing - Limited off-air taping and video tape duplication are provided with strict attention to copyright laws. For information regarding copyright provisions, contact the media coordinator at (616) 632-2131.
Additional Services
  • Graphics - The Media Center provides customized graphics, charts and signs for campus related presentations and events. For more information, visit the Graphic Design page.
  • Workshops - The Media Center offers workshops to familiarize faculty and staff with the center and its various presentation and media equipment. To arrange a workshop contact the media coordinator at ext. 2131. Please make these requests well in advance of the desired workshop date.
  • AV Software Orders - All requests for AV software should be made directly to Francine Paolini, the Media Coordinator. Please submit your wish list as far in advance as possible. AV catalogs are in the center and may be referenced for assistance in identifying appropriate titles. A list of current AV holdings is also available.
  • Supplies - The Media Center will provide, free of charge, the supplies necessary to use our equipment and services. Exceptions are as follows: Lamination is completed at a cost of $0.25 per foot. Video/Audio Tapes: New tapes are available at cost (prices vary dependent upon length and type of tape). Used tapes are available as long as supplies last. We appreciate the donation of used tapes. Lettering and transparencies for non-campus related events will be charged, fees are dependent upon amount of consumable supplies used.
Guidelines
  1. Always plan as far ahead as possible.
  2. All equipment is loaned on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. Booking requirement: name of borrower, date and time the equipment is needed, and the location where the equipment will be used.
  4. Faculty permission is required for students to reserve equipment. In some instances, a release form must be completed upon pickup of equipment.
  5. Equipment that may become damaged or lost due to user negligence, is the responsibility of the user.
  6. Users are encouraged to supply their own audio and video tapes.
