Reference

The Reference Department houses and maintains the Library's Reference and Serials Collections. The purpose of the Reference and Serial Collections is to provide the standard scholarly, multidisciplinary, and news-oriented monographs, serial titles, and indexes necessary to support Aquinas College's liberal arts, career oriented curriculum. For questions about Reference services, contact Kriss Derks, Head of Reference Services at 632-2133.

Librarians
The librarians of the Grace Hauenstein Library provide assistance with the TomCat, electronic resources, research assignments, and answer general informational questions. Check our hours page to find out when the reference desk (632-2140) is staffed or consult the Staff Directory to make an individual appointment with a specific librarian.

Each librarian acts as a subject liaison, working with faculty in each department to acquire materials for the library and prioritize order requests for books, journals and other items. They also answer reference questions, offer individual appointments and conduct instructional sessions for classes in their liaison areas. Click here for more information.

If you find that the library does not own an item that you think belongs there, you may request it by using the TomCat "Suggest a Title" page. If the liaison agrees the item fits within our collection development policy and funds are available, the item will be purchased and added to the collection.
