Information
Location: Aquinas College Art & Music Center
Classes: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Showcase Performance: Friday, June 19 at 2 p.m. (Admission is free.)
Camp Requirements: The camp is open to all music students entering eighth grade through college, adult musicians, and music educators with all levels of skills and abilities.
Camp Fees: The fee for day campers is $225, which includes all materials, classes, lunches, and a camp T-shirt. The fee for overnight campers is $395 total, which includes all of the above in addition to room and board. (Same as last year!)
Dorm Check-In: Dorm check-in is from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14.
Camp Placement: Mandatory placement level auditions, theory test, and elective selections for all students will begin at 3 p.m. in the Art & Music Center on Sunday, June 14.
College Credit: College students may apply for college credit.
 
Schedule
  • Camp Classes, Activities, & Curriculum: Continuous from 9 to 11:50 a.m.; Lunch - Noon to 12:50 p.m.; resuming from 1 to 5 p.m.
  • Combos, big bands, faculty concerts, concerts featuring students with faculty, master classes, and electives: Jazz theory & analysis, jazz composing & arranging (composing and arranging class requires a score of 90% or higher on a music theory exam given the first day of camp), jazz styles & rhythmic exploration, jazz keyboard accompaniment, and jazz styles & performance techniques (interpretation and improvisation). New this year: MySpace Music!
  • Overnight Campers Schedule:
    Breakfast: 8 to 8:50 a.m.
    Dinner: 5 to 6:30 p.m.
    Evening Activity: 7 to 10 p.m.
    Lights Out (taps): 11:30 p.m.

The instructors listed above are all recognized jazz masters whose careers as teachers and players are well established and widely respected.
Instructors are subject to change only due to unforseen emergency situations.

Please Note: An additional administrative fee of $30 will be applied to late registrations received after June 5, 2009. Full payment is required at the time of registration for the Summer 2009 Jazz Camp. We accept Visa or Mastercard (please include full name stated on credit card, complete address, expiration date and 3 digit V#).
