Continuing nursing education coordinator for the hospital. Develop Palliative Care program. Full-time position for two years, now part-time position.
• Oncology Research Nurse Clinician 3, Rush Cancer Institute, Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, Chicago. Responsible for determining eligibility, obtaining informed consent, and arranging treatment for patients on in-house, cooperative group and pharmaceutical protocols. 24 hour patient responsibility. Also involved in evaluating proposed protocols as well as results of closed in-house protocols. Responsibilities included performing bone marrow biopsies, administering intrathecal chemotherapy and investigational drugs.
• Advanced Practice Nurse for Bone Marrow Transplant, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. Collaborated with physicians to manage patient care from initial referral through transplant process until patient was discharged to referring physician post-transplant. Worked with insurance companies, home health agencies and also provided education and support to nurses.
• Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator, Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas. Case manager for marrow transplant patients from initial referral until release to referring physician. Prepared patients for transplant, managed care of the post-transplant patient. This was done on a part-time and full-time basis.
• Clinical Nurse III. Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas. Dually certified in critical care and marrow transplant nursing. Managed patient care for autologous, allogeneic and matched unrelated donor transplants. Established journal club for unit, designed and taught Marrow Transplant Course lectures, ACLS certified.
