| Web-Based Course Information |
| Aquinas will be offering three Web-based courses this summer.
Please see BS 423 and BS 492 W1 in the Summer I format and EN 330 W2 in the Summer II format. To succeed in an online course, students must possess strong study skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently. While internet courses are every bit as challenging as traditional courses, they require a degree of computer literacy (particularly some basic proficiency on the internet and email), as well as effective time management skills. In internet-enhanced courses the students, as a group, may not meet on a regular basis as they do in other courses. Thus, a critical key to success is maintaining ongoing communication with the instructor and other students in the class by email and telephone/voicemail. |
| |
| Aquinas College provides direct access to the Internet and e-mail from on-campus. Online courses and Aquinas e-mail are also available off-campus. |
| |
| For best performance using Aquinas College's online services, we recommend your personal computer meet certain specifications. While these are not requirements, having or exceeding the following specifications will enhance your experience. |
| |
| Hardware Requirements |
Hardware Recommendations: A Pentium IV 1.3GHz or better computer with
at least 256 MB of RAM (preferably 512MB); a monitor capable of 1024 by
768 or higher resolution; a high speed Internet connection (DSL/Cable);
a Windows XP or above operating system. Both a soundcard and CD-ROM
drive are highly recommended and may be required by some courses. Apple
Macintosh computers meeting the above requirements are also acceptable
(i.e. Mac OS X or greater). |
| |
| Software Requirements |
| An Internet browser, preferably a minimum of
Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 or Safari. Microsoft Office XP or
greater may be required for some courses. |
| |
| Password Requirements |
| Students registering for the first time since summer 2004, who have never received a One-Time Access Key, will receive an informational letter that will contain: 1.) their One-Time Access Key and 2.) instructions for retrieving their password. |
| To retrieve their password online, students will need: 1.) their One-Time Access Key, 2.) their Student ID Number, and 3.) their Social Security Number. |
| If needed students can also pick up their One-Time Access Key and instructions for retrieving their password by taking a picture ID (student ID or driver's license) to Campus Safety, ITS, or Grace Hauenstein Library. Campus Safety is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. |
