The Center for Sustainability heads the AQ Sustainability Initiative which provides an on-going process to assure that Aquinas College is the kind of place where people love to work and learn. Presently, the Center for Sustainability is focused on the implementation of the Zero-Waste Initiative. This aggressive initiative is in place to elevate the conversation about waste and sustainability at the college, guiding us to our goal of being the first college campus in the nation to achieve Zero Waste. Experiencing Economicology

The immersion experience titled “Experiencing Economicology” will introduce high school students (9th through 12th grade) to the important concepts of Economicology and sustainability. The program is intentionally organized with hands-on activities and opportunities for reflection. The day will begin with a keynote to introduce why Economicology is important to our city/region and the sustainability of our world. A series of five concurrent sessions will follow, exploring how economics and ecology can work together to achieve sustainability, the role of nature in our lives, and how personal action can build a sustainable future.
