Alumni at Aquinas College

Young Alumni Award

We celebrate young alumni who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement, personal growth and civic service in their community at the annual Welcome Home Reception and Awards Celebration.

2022 Recipient:

Lisa Peterson ’13

Prior to Aquinas, Lisa attended Catholic schools from preschool through high school in Bay City, MI. Her high school, All Saints, had a handful of Aquinas graduates prior to her, which peaked her interest enough to visit. She remembers loving how wooded and peaceful it seemed within a "big" city. After graduation, Lisa served two years of AmeriCorps service. The first year was with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest where she served as the services coordinator to a Catholic Worker homeless day shelter in Boise, ID. Her second term was with the American Red Cross in Grand Rapids and served in volunteer services and responded to local and national disasters. Most of her career since has been within the family court system. She has also completed her Masters of Social Work from Grand Valley State University. Her experience at Aquinas And her time with AmeriCorps led to her decision to become a social worker. Lisa was surprised and honored by this award and appreciates the opportunity to reflect on her time at Aquinas and the impact it made on her life.
