Elementary Certification

Elementary teacher candidates are proficient across subject areas for teaching grades PK-3 and 3-6, including literacy, mathematics, social studies, and science. In addition, candidates will integrate thorough preparation in professional knowledge and skills across the program.

Elementary Grade Bands:

Lower Elementary, PK-3 (ZO)
Upper Elementary, Grades 3-6 (ZP)

 

Secondary Certification

Secondary teacher candidates choose one content area to teach across middle grades/5-9 and high school/7-12. The secondary candidate may choose to study a content-area minor, but it is not required. In addition, we integrate thorough preparation of professional knowledge and skills across the program.

Deaf/Hard of Hearing Endorsement

Aquinas College partners with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) to offer an endorsement for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Consortium for Teacher Preparation, an innovative, multi-state university partnership. This partnership provides teachers who hold a valid or pending Michigan Teaching certificate with the opportunity to meet the unique needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
