The Aquinas College Advantage Center is excited to host the first annual fall career and internship fair on Thursday, November 17 from 2 - 5 p.m. in the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center located at 1580 Fulton Street E, Grand Rapids.
This is a wonderful opportunity for current students and alumni to engage in career exploration and speak with recruiters hiring for full-time and internship opportunities. The event is structured similarly to other career fairs and is open to students from other colleges and universities in the area.
There are more than 50 organizations from business and non-profit sectors in attendance including Atomic Object, Corewell Health, Diocese of Grand Rapids, LG Energy Solutions, Mill Steel, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, SpartanNash, West Michigan Whitecaps, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, and many more.
Career fairs are a fabulous opportunity for students to explore career opportunities, meet prospective employers, and practice professional behavior in a safe environment. Think of a career fair like an orange – you have to do a bit of work to get to the good stuff. Preparation is the key to success because employers notice when a student is dressed professionally and has a resume in hand.
There will also be a representative from the Siena Heights' McNair Scholars Program, an undergraduate program that seeks to provide research experience and grad school prep to students whose familial and/or ethnic background is underrepresented in graduate school.
Students and alumni are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a career coach to prepare in advance and for other job search tips. Contact the AQ Advantage Center at 616-632-2126 or go online to schedule an appointment.
