Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and inclusion wellness is exhibited by creating a safe space for all people to engage in empathic, cross-cultural exploration. Additionally it includes developing a deeper understanding of your individual cultural identity. Participating in a multicultural environment benefits your wellness as well as your learning and growth as an individual. Encountering diverse perspectives and experiences prepares you to be successful in a global society.
Ways to enhance this dimension:
- Identify your own cultural identity
- Seek to understand and appreciate other cultures as equal to your own
- Establish connections with people of different cultural identities
- Engage in respectful, curious conversations about power and privilege
- Identify and pursue a way to encourage cultural diversity
Are you engaged in practicing diversity and inclusion wellness?
- Am I open to new ideas or other points of view?
- Do I try to learn or understand where the other person is coming from?
- Do I search for ways to broaden my experiences with other that are not like myself?
- Do I interact with others are “outside of my bubble of friends?
If you answered "no" to any of the questions, it may indicate an area where you need to improve the state of your diversity and inclusion wellness.
