
Biography
Jim Rasmussen was born in Flint, Michigan and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 to 2000. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Geography from the University of Michigan-Flint, and his Masters of Science in Earth Science from Montana State University. Dr. Rasmussen taught and conducted field research at the University of Florida under the 2003 Alumni Graduate Fellowship, and also served as Assistant Professor of Geography at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. Dr. Rasmussen is a physical geographer and geomorphologist who is passionate about teaching and specializes in field based research. He has led students into the high country of the Northern Rocky Mountains and the forested swamps of Southeastern Coastal Plain. His interests include: cycling, paddling, and the eating habits of biting insects.
