Commencement at Aquinas College

Health and Safety Protocols

Currently, the COVID-19 community level for Kent County has been classified as Low. At this level, the KCHD has advised that there is no longer a universal mask requirement. Instead, the KCHD advises high-risk individuals to continue wearing masks to protect themselves. Students in general, including college students, are not considered to be a high-risk population.

As of Monday, March 7, Aquinas College no longer has a universal mask requirement for indoor settings. For those individuals who need or prefer to continue wearing masks indoors, we encourage you to do so and as a community, we will respect those who wear masks for any reason. Please note: if the Kent County Health Department (KCHD) recommendations change in the future due to a worsening of our community level for COVID-19, the universal masking requirement would return to campus. Please review the CDC community level guidelines and discuss the details with your family before attending any large-scale event or gathering.

Important things to understand at this time:

  • If Kent County moves from Medium to High Level in the future, the universal masking requirement will return on campus.
  • Guests, vendors and third party rental clients, as well as faculty, staff and students may choose to wear a mask at any time based on their level of comfort.
  • Wash hands frequently and monitor your daily health. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or have tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home and follow steps advised by CDC.
