Jane Fabiano-Turner
Office Coordinator
Jane has a Bachelor’s Degree from Ferris State University. Prior to joining Aquinas, Jane worked in the Information Technology field. She is likely the first person you will see when you come to our office in lower Donnelly Center. In her spare time, she enjoys weaving, knitting, and other fiber arts, as well as, spending time in northern Michigan and traveling.  If you would like to learn to knit or crochet, call her at (616) 632-2905 or email her at

Roxanne Kruger
While working on her masters degree, Roxanne completed her clinical internship at Aquinas College Counseling, Health, and Wellness center. Before coming to Aquinas she worked for a Federally Qualified Health Center in downtown Grand Rapids working with a recovery coach to help launch a substance use disorder program. Additionally she was an AmeriCorps member for 2 years promoting local health programs to migrant farmers and in the Grand Rapids Public School systems. She spends her free time with friends and family and taking care of her numerous plants.

Christie Martin, MA, LPC
Personal Counselor
Christie Martin attended Central Michigan University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Master’s degree in Professional Counseling. She most recently worked at Bethany Christian Services as a Foster Care Case Manager and Outpatient Therapist. Christie has additional training in trauma-focused counseling and experience working on a crisis line for college students affected by sexual violence. Additionally, Christie has worked as a contractor with the Department of Navy Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office providing advocacy and trainings to members of the military. In her free time, Christie enjoys hiking, reading, and traveling. 

Lauren Presutti
Masters Level Counseling Intern
Lauren is a lifelong learner, daughter, sister, friend, wheelchair-user, advocate, and person who ultimately wants to help people live their best lives. Her undergraduate studies in sociology (Central Michigan University) and time studying abroad in Australia, Ireland, Japan, and South Africa inspired her passion for mental health and the experiences of young adults. Lauren advises part-time at Grand Valley State University and enjoys helping college students balance their academic and personal lives. She is earning her MSW and pursuing her career as a mental health therapist because she understands life is messy and we all need a safe space to process our experiences. In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time outdoors, visiting family, discovering new places, and volunteering.

Jessica Riley
Masters Level Counseling Intern
Jessica is from Muskegon, Michigan and has been living in Grand Rapids for the past 5 years. After receiving her Bachelors degree from Grand Valley State University in Public Administration and Women and Gender Studies in 2015, she took 2 years off before returning to work on her Masters. She will graduate with her Masters of Social Work from Grand Valley in May 2020. Jessica is also an Emergency Communications Operator at the Kent County Sheriff’s Department where she takes emergency calls and dispatches police and fire units. Jessica is passionate about women’s empowerment and community engagement. She hopes to engage with students from a holistic wellness perspective. During her free time Jessica likes to spend her time outdoors, reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family.

Zach Sietsema, MA, LLPC
Personal Counselor
Prior to joining the Aquinas counseling center staff, Zach completed his masters internship with the Aquinas Counseling Center during the 2009-2010 academic year. Additionally Zach was an adjunct professor working with the Advantage Center instructing CD 200 between 2012 and 2016. More recently Zach was working at Forest View Psychiatric Hospital as a Case Manager/Therapist working with adults and adolescents needing inpatient psychiatric treatment. Zach’s specialties focus around substance abuse, identity development and skill development for significant anxiety and depression. Originally from the Grand Rapids area, Zach spends time up north in the summer hiking, boating and playing golf. Whether on TV or at the game, Football is something Zach enjoys watching during the fall/winter months. These activities are secondary of course to spending time with his wife and daughter.

Sharon E. Smith, MSW, LCSW, ACSW
Director, Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services
Sharon E. Smith is the Director of Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services. She also works with profit and non-profit organizations, as well as works in system thinking, diversity issues, group dynamics, and strategic planning. Sharon graduated from Aquinas College and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University. She is a licensed social worker. Sharon has thirty years of experience in employment and training, human resources, the human services field, higher education, and mental health.
