Mission Statement
Our mission as the Aquinas College Student Senate is to fairly represent the diverse views, needs, and expectations of our student body in a Catholic Christian environment.
About Student Senate:
The Aquinas College Student Senate, was implemented to fairly represent the diverse views, needs, and expectations of our student body in a Catholic Christian environment. The Senate is seated with active members of the Aquinas College student body. It is structured by the Executive Board: Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary, Budget Director, and Academic Affairs Director. Alongside the Executive Board, are Senators, who hold twelve seats which are represented by three students from each class. Throughout the academic calendar year, the Senate meets twice a month in an open session, where both students and faculty attend to discuss updates, and concerns alike. On the Senator’s off week, they meet with their assigned committees: Campus Engagement Committee, Budget Committee, and The Academic Affairs Committee, run by members of the Executive Board. Elections for Senators are held in September of each year.
The Senate represents the voice of the students, who act as a liaison between students and upper administration. Senators actively seek out opportunities to engage with their constituents and attend campus events, in order to better understand concerns and ideas present among the student body.
The Senate meets twice a month on Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m. in Donnelly Center. These meetings are open sessions where the President, Dean of Students, and heads of campus departments have a presence to offer updates and discuss student concerns with Senators.
