Myths and folklore from Ancient Greece have new life breathed into them by director/playwright Mary Zimmerman. By Lauren Gunderson

April 20-23, 2023
Ada Lovelace is a brilliant, curious, and fiercely independent woman pulled in many directions. She’s told to grow into a good wife and mother. She is pulled to create music. She is passionate about mathematics. Through it all, she is haunted by the looming shadow of her late father, the Romantic poet Lord Byron. When she meets fellow mathematician Charles Babbage and learns that he plans to build a machine that can perform complex calculations, she sees its potential in a way no one else does. This machine could help us unlock the secrets of our universe, and even write music! In 1830, she wrote what many consider to be the first computer program - over a century before computers as we know them were developed. In every possible way, she saw beyond her time and her inspiring story can help us reach beyond our own.
