Campus Operations Status

Aquinas College is operational and has shifted to distance learning for the remainder of the spring semester, including final exams. In compliance with Governor Whitmer's March 23 "Stay Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order, the College will further reduce operational core services that must be performed in person on campus. All other operations will be conducted remotely.

Please regularly check this page for the most up-to-date information as this situation evolves.​

Due to the Governor’s order, all non-essential facilities will be closed (no swipe access). 

  • The Campus Safety Office, the Residence Halls and Wege will be restricted to swipe access for remaining residential students and essential employees only.
  • Residence Halls closed at 9 p.m. on March 24, 2020. No students will have access to the residence halls except for the residential students who remain on campus.
  • All unused rooms in all buildings will be locked and sealed to maintain a clean and sanitized space.

Office of Admissions: Prospective students can register for a Virtual Personal Visit, where they can expect a personalized, interactive conversation with one of our Admissions Representatives and discover all Aquinas has to offer, including the following:

  • Fun things to do on-campus and in Grand Rapids
  • Study away, internships and other experiential learning opportunities
  • Scholarships and financial aid
  • And other topics of students' choice

Office of Advancement 

  • Our philanthropy and alumni staff are primarily working remotely and can be reached by phone or email. 
  • All in-person alumni and advancement events are canceled through May 15. We will continue to monitor the situation to make decisions regarding events after May 15.

AQ Advantage Center (Flannery Hall): Closed for walk-ins; however, staff is available for virtual appointments at aquinas.joinhandshake.com.

Art and Music Center: Closed 

Athletic Field: Closed

Carriage House: Closed 

Bookstore: The bookstore is closed, but online orders can still be placed, and inquiries can be sent to the contact information below.

Campus Safety Office: Operating under normal business hours.

Counseling, Health and Wellness Services: Operating remotely. No in-person sessions. Adjusted business hours: Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.

  • Support by Personal Counselors will be provided by appointment via phone and will be brief and solution-focused. Consultations may include referrals to other resources if deemed necessary and appropriate. If you are a new client, we are able to provide a one-time consultation call in order to assist you in connecting with local resources in your area.

  • If you are currently enrolled at Aquinas and would like to schedule a phone appointment, please leave a message at (616) 632-2905, and our staff will return your message as soon as possible.

  • If you are sick or experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay home and call or email to reschedule your appointment.

  • In case of a mental health emergency

    • Please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

    • On-call crisis management provided by Aquinas Counseling Services can be reached at the Campus Safety Office at (616) 632-2462 from a cell/off-campus phone or dial extension 3333 on any on-campus landline phone.

    • Other resources include the 24/7 Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) and the Crisis Text Line (Text HELLO to 741741).

    • If your distress is related to COVID-19, you can contact the Disaster Distress Helpline at 1-800-985-5990 or text TalkWithUs to 66746 to connect with a crisis counselor for free confidential crisis support.

Office of Financial Aid: Operating remotely. If you have questions or need to schedule an in-person appointment, please email financialaid@aquinas.edu.

Gatehouse: Closed

Health Center: Closed until further notice. Please call our office for medical treatment or if you have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 or have the following symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath.

  • Coronavirus (COVID-19) Testing: Routine coronavirus testing is currently NOT provided by the CDC or the Health Department. Testing is determined on a case-by=case basis and dependent on symptoms, history of illness and risk factors.

Library: Closed per Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order No. 2020-9.​

  • Other library services will be available remotely, including those listed below. Please email aqlibrarian@gmail.com.
    • Checking out books, DVDs, AV equipment, etc. to current AQ faculty and staff (pick-up, drop-off and delivery)
    • Requesting books and articles from other libraries (ILL)
    • Providing library instruction and research help to students remotely
    • Creating course guides for faculty (upon request)
    • Scanning and photocopying documents, book chapters, etc.

Mail Room: Open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Please check back regularly for updated hours of operation.

  • We will be picking up mail and sending out mail from the post office, as well as receiving package deliveries. However, there will NOT be a mail delivery across campus.

Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chapel: In harmony with government guidelines, the Diocese of Grand Rapids has canceled all public Masses and all other liturgical and devotional services through Easter Monday, April 13, 2020. Please see details and information about Holy Week and Easter and livestreaming of Sunday Mass from the cathedral at the diocese's COVID-19 Response and Recommendations page.

  • Fr. Stan will be available to talk with any student or faculty/staff member who would like to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation or for spiritual counsel. Please contact Fr. Stan at sad004@aquinas.edu for appointments.
  • Campus Ministry staff are available for different modalities of virtual pastoral care and spiritual companionship. Please contact Campus Ministry staff for appointments.
