Geography at Aquinas College
Explore Geography at Aquinas

Ever wondered why cities grow the way they do, how weather shapes landscapes, or what stories maps can reveal about a place? In the Geography program at Aquinas, you’ll explore the world through patterns, movement, and place. As one of the only two liberal arts colleges in Michigan to offer a Geography major, Aquinas gives you hands-on experience across the full triad of Geography: physical geography, human geography, and geographic techniques. You’ll build strong analytical skills and conduct original research. And to top it all off, you’ll use the same mapping and spatial analysis software as local, state, and federal agencies, meaning that you’ll graduate ready for professional work or advanced study.
It's Time to map your future
Why Choose Aquinas for your Geography Degree?
Because it's beautiful here!
When you study the natural world, you don't want to exit your dorm to find dizzying traffic lights and commotion. Aquinas is a serene campus with two creeks, thousands of trees, and possibly too many squirrels—the perfect location to study geography. Our Campus Safety office even rents out hammocks!
And make no mistake, you won't lose out on the opportunities of the city. The heart of Grand Rapids is just around the corner. You can walk out your front door or jump on The Rapid bus line and, in minutes, delight your appetite in the vibrant restaurant scene or explore hundreds of miles of local trail networks on foot or bike.
When the time is right, you'll want the balance of nature and bustling city to get the best research and internship experiences.
