Dr. Linda Keway joined the Counselor Education faculty in 2017. She has also lectured
in Career Services, Indigenous Studies (Sociology), and First Year Seminar since 2013.
Previously, she served as professional development/human rights and labor consultant
for the Michigan Education Association. Prior to MEA, she worked as a teacher and
consultant for Grand Rapids Public Schools, counselor for Grand Rapids Community College
and Grand Valley State University, and admissions officer for the University of Michigan.
Dr. Keway serves as a Commissioner for Indian Child Welfare for her tribe, the Little
Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Michigan
Indian Education Council's Distinguished Service Award.
Dr. Keway received her Bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University
of Michigan, Master's degrees in guidance and counseling from Michigan State University
and special education from Eastern Michigan University, and her Doctorate degree in
educational leadership from Western Michigan University.
Among other interests, she is a ballroom and rhythm dancer receiving several awards
at national and international competitions. She believes "Life isn‚'t about surviving
the storm, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
