Groundbreaking is nothing new at Aquinas College. Since its beginnings in 1886 as the Novitiate Normal School, Aquinas College has innovatively responded to the changing world. Located directly across from and facing Holmdene Manor, the Chapel will be built at what is now the intersection of Wege Way and Elderberry Lane. This location ensures that all members of our campus community are in close proximity to the Chapel whether they’re students walking to class, neighbors strolling through or alumni returning to enjoy the beauty of campus. Construction has begun and we look forward to sharing the progress.

A New Chapel:

Growing Our Faith Community

As one of America’s top 50 Catholic colleges, Aquinas has a long history of providing the community a place for worship, reflection and education. Deeply committed to hospitality, inclusivity and dialogue, the College is well-known for its dedication to social justice.

True to its Dominican roots, the College has used every nook and cranny to accommodate its growth. Sunday Mass in the current Chapel is regularly at full capacity. The College frequently turns away alumni who want to be married on campus. Our Liturgical Music Ministry is constrained and there is inadequate space for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is time for a new, bigger and more accommodating Chapel.

Our Lady Seat of Wisdom is that new Chapel. This focal point of faith will allow Aquinas College to expand its spiritual ministry, provide more opportunities to our students, alumni and community members, and serve the region as a place of worship, reflection and contemplation. blueprint of new chapel

Designed in the Dominican tradition by top architects who specialize in sacred spaces, Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chapel will be the faith centerpiece of Aquinas College’s beautiful campus. It will stand as a symbol of faith for all who live and work at Aquinas, and it will inspire those who visit our campus.

In the College’s 129-year history, this is the first building to be constructed specifically as a Chapel. Our Lady Seat of Wisdom will offer everyone a serene respite for prayer, contemplation, private reflection and a place to celebrate Mass.

At a cost of $4 million, the Chapel will seat 230, and its doors will be open daily for students, faculty, staff and the community. View the floor plan.

There are many ways to make a financial gift. Whether it’s a cash gift or the transfer of other assets, your gift to the Chapel campaign will help build a lasting legacy. Members of the Aquinas College Foundation are happy to

assist you with any questions you may have about giving to the College.

All gifts – large or small – may be offered in memory or to honor someone. If you wish to create a legacy gift there are naming opportunities  available at different levels of giving. Currently we are focused on naming opportunities for gifts above $25,000. As we move further in to the construction phase we will have naming opportunities available for gifts below $25,000 as well. If you are interested in a naming opportunity at any level, please contact the Foundation Office for additional information.
