The biggest threat to our Zero       Waste program is contamination.     We need all Sustainable Saints to take the time to sort waste properly and ensure that all recyclables are clean and food-free before entering recycling bins. See the following pages for examples of what goes where.


COMPOSTING ALLOWED ITEMS:  LOW GRADE PAPER, SOUP BOWLS, PAPER TO-GO BOXES, WAX PAPER,  COFFEE FILTERS, USED TISSUES, LEFTOVERS,  ALL FOOD TYPES ARE ACCEPTED,  ALL PLASTIC USED BY AQ DINING ARE COMPOSTABLE, COMPOSTABLE PLASTIC MUST BE LABELED WITH “COMPOSTABLE” OR “PLA”


RECYCLING ALLOWED ITEMS:  PAPER CARTONS, MAGAZINES & CATALOGS, SOFT COVER BOOKS, CLEAN AND FOOD-FREE, ALL METAL CANS, PLASTIC CONTAINERS MUST BE LABELED WITH A NUMBER 1-7


NEXTREX RECYCLING:  POLYETHYLENE FILMS LABELED WITH #2 OR #4 RECYCLING SYMBOL, ICE BAGS, WOOD PELLET BAGS, SALT BAGS, CEREAL BOX LINERS, ALL PLASTIC MUST BE CLEAN, DRY, AND FREE OF FOOD RESIDUE.


LANDFILL: THESE ITEMS CANNOT BE RECYCLED OR COMPOSTED


Specialty items: Housewares, Textiles, Electronic Waste, Styrofoam
