Aquinas Theatre and the Grand Awards

The Grand Awards are given annually to college and community theatre members in the West Michigan area who have demonstrated outstanding skills in the diverse areas of theatre. 

The 22nd Grand Awards

AQ Theatre faculty member, Randy Wyatt, was nominated for Outstanding Direction of a College Production for Rhinoceros and Kathy Gibson for her direction of A Year with Frog and Toad.  

Three performances were nominated for Outstanding College Production - Equivocation, Rhinoceros, and a Year with Frog and Toad. 

Two students were nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a College Production - Brock Gabbert for playing Berenger in Rhinoceros and Kaeleb Cogswell as Toad in A Year with Frog and Toad. 

Bryanna Lee, as Minnie in Terrible Girls, was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a College Production. 

Kaeleb Cogswell was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a College Production for his role as Armin in Equivocation.

Three performances were nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a College Production - Justina Ouillette as Lady with Cat in Rhinoceros, Christina Gonzales as Snail and Granny Frog in A Year with Frog and Toad, and Emily Cipriano as Bird, Mother Frog, Turtle and Mole 1 in A Year with Frog and Toad.   

20th Grand Awards

The Aquinas College Theatre Department was nominated to 15 awards and took home 6 awards at the 20th Annual Grand Awards including Outstanding College Production for the show “Enchanted April” 

Winners included:

  • Veronica Bustoz - Outstanding Stage Manager
  • Aaron Skorka - Outstanding Supporting Actor (Enchanted April)
  • Kendra McInerney - Outstanding Support Actress (Enchanted April)
  • Outstanding Lead Actress - Zoe Gipson (Enchanted April)
  • Outstanding Direction - Carrie McNulty (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) 
  • Outstanding College Production – (Enchanted April)
