Michigan award-winning author to speak as part of the Contemporary Writers Series

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN (August 17, 2009) - The 2009-2010 Aquinas College Contemporary
Writers Series kicks off with Michigan award-winning author Liesel Litzenburger on
Tuesday, September 22 at 7:30 p.m. Her books are The Widower (2006) and Now You Love
Me (2007) and she has had numerous stories and essays published in various magazines
and journals. The reading is in the Wege Center Ballroom and is free and open to
the public.
Litzenburger spent her childhood in Petoskey, Michigan, and although she has moved frequently and traveled extensively, she considers Michigan home. She's always loved stories either written or spoken and listening to people talk, and how each person puts his or her life into words. Having grown up little availability to watch TV, Litzenburger, an avid reader, discovered the works of many famous authors at an early age.
The Very Bad Man was her first novel, an espionage tale set in Brazil and written in fourth grade. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in English and after working as editor of a trivia book series returned to school to earn her M.F.A. Litzenburger has taught at the University of Michigan, New College and Interlochen Arts Academy and is the recipient of awards and residences from the Michigan Council for Art and Cultural Affairs, Yaddo and the MacDowell Colony.
The Aquinas College Contemporary Writers Series was founded by a grant from Tony Foster, M.D. ’73 and Linda Nemec Foster ’72. The series kicked off in 1997 by bringing well-known authors to Aquinas College for public readings and workshops with students.
