GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN (January 12, 2004) - Paul L. Kasriel, director of economic research, Northern Trust-Chicago will address the Aquinas community on the subject of globalization of local manufacturing. Kasriel's speech entitled, "The Impact of Globalization on Local Manufacturing" will be held on Wednesday, February 4 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in Kretschmer Recital Hall, Art and Music Center. Space is limited.

Kasriel joined the economic research unit of The Northern Trust Company in 1986 as vice president and economist, was named senior vice president and director of economic research in 2000. In his current position, he is responsible for making the Corporation's economic and interest rate forecasts, which are used internally and by clients. Kasriel's daily and weekly commentaries written in his straightforward and often nonconsensus analysis of economic and financial market issues, he has developed a loyal following in the financial community, including the media. He has been interviewed on local and national television and radio financial market programs. Kasriel is the co-author the recently published book "Seven Indicators that Move Markets."

Kasriel is a member of the American Economic Association, National Association of Business Economists and serves on the Economic Advisory Committee of the American Bankers Association. He received his bachelor of arts, with honors, in economics from Indiana University and earned a master of arts, with honors, from the University of South Florida.
