On Thursday, November 17 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm., Sharron Detz, former director of the Native American Ministry of the Grand Rapids Diocese (1996-2004) will be speaking in the Aquinas College Wege Student Center, Loutit Room. Detz's talk, Leadership Roles for Native American Women, will focus on the definition on leadership and the various roles of Native American Women. Her talk will be followed by a short film. The talk is free and open to the public.

Detz, Grand River from the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, serves as her tribe's liaison to the Michigan Anishinaabek Cultural Protection and Repatriation Alliance (MACPRA). MACPRA consists of all federally recognized Indian Tribes from the state of Michigan. It was established in 2000 after a consensus agreement was signed by all the tribes in Michigan empowering this organization to speak on protection and repatriation issues of interest to all tribes. She served as youth minister at St. Isidore's Church from 1992 -1996 and was enrollment officer for the Grand River Band of Ottawa Indians from 1988-1996.
