GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. (November 8, 2010) ― The Aquinas College Students of Free Enterprise (SIFE) are hosting a meeting with U.S. Senator Carl Levin on Tuesday, November 8 from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Donnelly Conference Center at 157 Woodward Lane SE. Levin is the chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. The focus of the meeting will be on the instability oil costs driven by speculation in the commodities market. There will be time for questions and answers.

Some individuals from the community will be telling their stories of foreclosure and how the skyrocketing oil prices had an effect on their situations.

In April, SIFE members gathered over 1,000 signatures on petitions to stop oil speculation and they will be gathering signatures at the meeting. The SIFE team has been working with Levin to bring awareness to this issue for over a year. A member of SIFE will be speaking on what she has learned about oil speculation from studying the subject and working on this project.

The Aquinas College SIFE team has been operating on campus for nine years. Currently AQ SIFE has over fifty student members and is working on twelve projects to help the community. SIFE is an international non-profit organization that brings together the leaders of today and tomorrow to create a better, more sustainable world through the positive power of business.
