GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, September 27, 2001 Aquinas College is pleased to welcome Robert Dana, as part of the 2001/2002 Contemporary Writers Series on Monday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wege Student Center, Ballroom. Admission is free of charge.

Dana, a retired Poet-in-Residence at Cornell College, is the author of over ten books of poetry including Hello, Stranger: Beach Poems. He was honored with the National Endowment of the Arts Fellowship in both 1984 and 1993 and was awarded the Delmore Schwartz Memorial Award for poetry. Dana graduated from Drake University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts and the University of Iowa with a Masters of Arts in 1954.

The Aquinas College Contemporary Writers Series is coordinated by a steering committee consisting of members of the Aquinas staff and faculty representing the Friends of the Woodhouse Library, the English Department, and the Student Activities Department. In addition to public readings, visiting writers will meet with creative writing students in workshops and will offer readings for students in the College's first and second year core courses.
