Each year the Aquinas Emeritus College presents the Emeritus Award to an individual or couple from the community who has demonstrated longstanding leadership, generosity and spirit of service. On Wednesday, May 21, Nancy and Larry Erhardt will be honored with the 2003 Emeritus Award . The Award will be presented at the annual Aquinas Emeritus Evening held in the Aquinas Wege Student Center. Nancy Erhardt is deeply involved in a number of organizations and institutions. Her current involvement includes: Aquinas College Development Committee, St. Patrick School volunteer, St. Paul the Apostle Church Eucharistic Minister, Quail Crest Condominium Association Beautification Committee Chair, and Cascade Hills Country Club Women's Association. She has also been a member of the Aquinas College Board of Trustees, a Teacher's Aide at Challenger Elementary School, Kentwood, and has served in a variety of capacities at Villa Elizabeth Nursing Home. Nancy's belief in lifelong, values-based education and growth has been fostered by a diverse educational background. She received her bachelor of science degree in medical technology from Siena Heights College, Adrian, Michigan, returned to school in 1974 to take various liberal arts courses at Aquinas College, and received her Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education from Pine Rest Christian Hospital in 1992.

Larry Erhardt, CEO of Erhardt Construction of Ada, has served on a number of boards, including St. Johns Home, Grand Rapids Chamber Right Place Program, St. Lazare Retreat House, Villa Elizabeth, Dominican Sisters, Associated Builders and Contractors, and Builders Exchange. His construction projects have included DeVos Place Convention Center, Van Andel Arena, Van Andel Medical Institute, Amway Towers, St. Robert of Newminster Church, Holland Home, Jarecki Center for Advanced Learning, Aquinas College Performing Arts Center and Cascade Hills Country Club. Larry is a member of St. Robert of Newminster Church, where he has been active in fund drives and parish planning. Larry was a student at Aquinas College for two years before attending the University of Detroit, where he graduated with a degree in engineering.

The Aquinas Emeritus College, recognized for its excellence throughout the state of Michigan, supports lifelong learning for older adults. The program offers non-degree courses on a variety of timely subjects including literature, art, philosophy, history and computer science. Its faculty is composed of professors and teachers from Aquinas and other local universities, as well as other experts in their fields. This unique educational program is sustained by course fees and the Aquinas Emeritus Evening.
