Music student Kathy Wagner is a star…both on and off the stage

Grand Rapids, Michigan (April 4, 2008) - Aquinas College will recognize the accomplishments
of continuing education student Kathy Wagner at the 2008 Outstanding Adult Learner
Awards, held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16 at the Applied Technology Center on
the GRCC/FSC Campus.
A music major at Aquinas whose audiences have ranged from the sixth grade class at Brookside Elementary School to former presidents of the United States, Wagner is a living testament to Shakespeare's classic line, "All the world's a stage." Focusing on jazz vocal performance, Wagner has appeared in countless West Michigan productions, winning Grand Awards for her work in Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, Spitfire Grill, and Beehive. Committed to service, Wagner has volunteered her talents to such charitable causes as Race for the Cure, the American Heart Association, Special Olympics and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Her passion for the arts has yielded a successful career in both vocal and dance instruction, and Wagner has performed as a featured singer with the River City Jazz Ensemble for more than 20 years. Wagner is especially proud, however, of her loving husband, Tom, and their two grown daughters, Hanna and Emma.
The 2008 Outstanding Adult Learner Awards represent the annual celebration of adult college education by the Grand Rapids Area Higher Education Network (GRAHEN), a group of 14 colleges and universities that collectively aims "To create an awareness of life-long learning opportunities for adults at colleges and universities in the Greater Grand Rapids Area."
