(Grand Rapids, Michigan) - Aquinas College Resident Assistants and juniors Stephanie Krajnik and Monica Rischiotto, and freshman Abby Samotis are hosting ‘Get Wiggy with It,’ an event inviting all students of Aquinas and Grand Rapids area high schools, faculty, and staff to receive a free haircut and donate the hair to the Wigs 4 Kids Foundation. The event will be held on Tuesday, April 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the main lounge of Regina Hall on the Aquinas campus.

During the hair drive, stylists will collect from participants who are willing to cut at least ten inches of hair. Event volunteers will then send the donations to Wigs 4 Kids. Wigs 4 Kids is local non-profit organization headquartered in St. Claire Shores, Mich. that makes wigs for children and teenagers through age 18 who have experienced hair loss due to chemotherapy, alopecia, burns, and several other conditions.

Before the two hour event, donors have the opportunity to sign up for half hour time slots (7, 7:30, 8, and 8:30 p.m.) with either of two onsite hairstylists. Participants who are not able to secure a spot ahead of time can walk in and receive a haircut at anytime between 7 and 9 p.m. In addition to a free haircut, Krajnik, Rischiotto, and Samotis will be serving pancakes in the Tuesday night tradition, showing the movie Hairspray, and raffling off salon gift cards to a few lucky donors.
