Aquinas College has selected an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Michigan-Flint
to head its new theatre program.
Anthony Guest, the manager of the Bronner Performing Arts Center at Frankenmuth (Mich.) High School, will join Aquinas this fall as an assistant professor of theatre and as director of the College's renewed theatre program within the Department of Communications.
Guest graduated with a master of fine arts in acting and directing from the Professional Actor Training Company at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2000. He brings a broad range of professional experience in acting and directing from New York theatre. Further, his additional professional experience combined with his graduate work will help form the foundation of the College's theatre curriculum.
More recently, Guest served as manager of the new $4 million Bronner Performing Arts Center. He was the creative and technical force behind development of the theatre curriculum along with designing repertory light plot, advising on user policies and expanding theatre programs for the high school and community.
Guest will lead the theatre programs that will centered at the soon-to-be-opened Aquinas College Performing Arts Center. The theatre's Grand Opening Celebration will take place Tuesday, July 29 through Saturday, August 2. The Center is the result of collaboration between Aquinas, Community Circle Theatre and the Greater Grand Rapids Area Catholic Secondary Schools.
