GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. (February 25, 2004) - Aquinas College Campus Ministry Service Learning will host Youth Rally 2004 on Sunday, March 28 in Wege Student Center beginning at 10 a.m. Workshops will be held in the Academic Building. This is the 12th year that the event has been held on campus. More than 200 high school students from the Dioceses of Grand Rapids, Lansing and Kalamazoo are expected to attend.

Sixteen-year-old local recording artist and songwriter Amanda Vernon, whose first album entitled "Shine Through Me" was released on Troubadour for the Lord Records, will be sharing her musical talents in an hour-long concert during the Rally. This year's event will feature keynote speaker Bob Perron, a nationally-known comedian and storyteller who provides an educational message about faith through his comedy. Also, Bishop Kevin M. Britt of the Grand Rapids Diocese will celebrate Mass in Wege Student Center at 3 p.m.

Many people are involved in planning Youth Rally, including faculty and staff from Aquinas, the Grand Rapids Diocesan office of Marriage and Family/Youth and Young Adult Ministry, and various religious education directors, youth ministers and high school students from the area. Area parishes were provided information about the event.

High school-age students wishing to attend the conference should contact the youth minister at their family parish for registration specifics. Additional questions should be directed to Service-Learning Coordinator Eric Bridge at (616) 632-2490 or at bridgeri@aquinas.edu.
